“It’s been wonderful having Lori as part of our Hospice Volunteer (Doula) program. She came to us through the INELDA training and has entered into this work with an open mind and compassionate heart. Lori is 100% reliable and I appreciate all she has contributed to this program.” Kaiser Oakland Hospice Volunteer Performance Evaluation
“There is only one notion that comes to mind when I think of my meeting Lori and that is a blessing. I was eight months pregnant with my first child when my husband introduced me to her at a work function. I was aware of Doulas and understood the vast amount of good they did for women giving birth, but our family was not in the financial position to hire one.
After getting to know us a bit more, Lori did us the most generous favor by offering to be my Doula. I was a bit nervous at first, it being so far into my pregnancy and not having been able to spend much time getting to know her. Yet, I just had this feeling inside like I had known her forever. We met a few times to go over my birth plan and she gave me some really good articles to read.
Then the big day came and she was right there by my side in my hospital room, which was a huge help considering my husband’s cultural viewpoint of men and childbirth. Culturally, men did not participate in the process when he grew up. Lori gave just the right amount of support, offered suggestions, and spoke for me when I could not.
I can’t even begin to imagine what this experience would have been like without her and I don’t want to!” A.S., Birth Doula client
“We are so grateful to have someone in our area who knows the ins and outs of Medical Aid in Dying like Lori does. She gets it. She understands the legalities and the steps involved. As a doula, she sees the bigger picture of planning for that final day. And when it comes to being there when the client needs her, she is an expert when it comes to medical protocol and planning. There is no one else I would trust more than her to be at the bedside. She knows what she’s doing, and she does it all with care and compassion.”
